Hypothesis:

Generic contact lens cleaning solutions will sterilize the same amount of bacteria as the brand names because generic brand names are made up of the same type of materials as brand names.

Various Contact Lens Solutions (CVS Multi-Purpose, Solo-Care Multi-Purpose, Complete Moisture Multi-Purpose, Renu Multi-purpose), Staphylococcus Epidermis, Streptococcus Salivarius, Petri Dishes, Filter Paper, Agar, Bleach

The student prepared six petri dishes, four to use with the different types of contact lens cleaning solutions, one with bleach and the last one with nothing. Each dish was prepared with Agar and Staphylococcus Epidermis. After the bacteria was given a chance to grow, the cleaning solution was added. After a period of time, each dish was measured to compare how effective each particular cleaning solution was against the bacteria. The same test was repeated using the Streptococcus Salivarius.
