Does Dog Saliva Kill Bacteria?

Hypothesis: Dog Saliva will be effective at killing bacteria.
Primary Materials Used: Saliva from Three Dogs, Staphylococcus Epidermis Bacteria, Petri Dishes, Filter Paper, Nutrient Agar, Sterile Tweezers, Sterile Scissors, Sterile Cotton Swabs, Sterile Eyedroppers, Four Cups, Paper Towels, Protective Gloves, Bleach

The student prepared samples of bacteria in Petri Dishes, then applied the saliva from several dogs to these samples, one dog per dish. She also applied bleach to one sample and nothing to one sample. After letting the samples sit for 24 hours she examined the results, which may surprise you!

This is a fun project if you have several dogs in your family and have ever wondered just how clean a dogs mouth really is!
